CloudWatch

Extractor

Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring and observability service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). It lets users monitor and collect data on AWS resources and applications, including EC2 instances, RDS databases and Lambda functions, with real-time metrics, logs and alarms to help troubleshoot issues, optimize performance and check the health of their AWS environment. Connect it to bring your CloudWatch log data into your own systems.

What you can sync

  • Log data filtered by a query
  • Log data between a start and end date and time

Prerequisites

  • AWS Access Key ID: the unique identifier for an AWS account used to access the CloudWatch API.
  • AWS Secret Access Key: the secret key associated with the AWS Access Key ID.
  • AWS Region Name: the region where the CloudWatch logs are stored.
  • Log Group Name, Query and Start Date: validated together as a group.
  • AWS Session Token (optional): an optional token that can authenticate the session.

Setup

In AWS

  1. Find your AWS Access Key ID and AWS Secret Access Key, and note the region where your CloudWatch logs are stored.
  2. If you use a session token, note that as well.

In Meltano Cloud

  1. Enter your AWS Access Key ID, AWS Secret Access Key and AWS Region Name.
  2. Enter the Log Group Name, Query and Start Date.
  3. Optionally set End Date, Batch Increment S, the flattening options, AWS Endpoint URL or AWS Profile.

Advanced configuration

  • Flattening: Flattening Enabled sets whether JSON data in log events is flattened; Flattening Max Depth sets the maximum depth.
  • Batch Increment S: the number of seconds to wait between each batch of log events (default 3600).
  • Stream Maps / Stream Map Config: a list of stream maps to use for retrieving log data, and configuration settings for those stream maps.
